How to spice up your workout

We all, at a point, have lost motivation. Every day won’t be ‘beast mode’, as we feel out of energy sometimes. That’s very normal. I understand working out can be boring, especially when it’s the same routine every day.

So how do you encourage yourself and spice up your workout time to stay consistent? The way out is to be creative! I will be sharing measures that have helped me and still are helping me find it easy to stay consistent.

1. Try a new routine

It should be in line with your goals or just for healthy fun. Tabata, CrossFit, spin, and step board classes are great routines you could try to add variety, challenge your body in new ways, and keep your workout sessions exciting and effective.

2. Go to the gym once in a while

Believe me, the atmosphere will charge you up. Use machines suitable to your routine or join the classes they offer.

3. Get a workout buddy!

Working out all by yourself can be lonely at times, but having someone working out with you is advantageous, i.e., you will get more motivation and more encouragement, which will aid your consistency.

Most importantly, having a workout buddy makes you accountable to someone and vice versa.

4. Switch up your training time

I mean, if you’re a morning person, switch a few days to evening. I bet you’d enjoy the cool breeze easing your every sweat.

5. Add music

Many don’t do this because they think it’s not necessary, but it is one fun part that gets your mind in the game. All songs are applicable here; it could be gospel, hip hop, or anything you love listening to.

Just make sure to give feedback when you do this because I know how super fun it will be. You can go a little extra by having a routine to a song.

6. Have your goals broken down to sub-goals and a schedule per week

This will help you in looking forward to each day. Instead of doing total body every active day, have days set for specific parts of the body. This does not only make it fun but also better for a good result.

7. Maybe what you need is to change your fitness wardrobe

Yes, you read that right. Get new shorts, tights, tops, and sports bras if necessary. Buy colours that brighten your mood, and you’ll be glad you did. I personally have activewear for specific days, and some I wear based on my mood or how I want to feel.

If all of the above have been done and there is still about 5% charging up to do, don’t sleep on this last one.

8. Reward Yourself

You might be wondering how it applies to spicing up your workout to stay consistent. When you’ve done all of the above and your journey is going all well and good, take a time out to get yourself a treat.

It could be new wear or equipment; you could even treat yourself to a healthy dinner for being consistent for over a month or a few weeks. Trust me, you won’t regret it, and you won’t be able to comprehend what effect this has until you try.

With all said and done, I’d love to hear from you which tip you are trying first. Thanks for reading all the way down; I hope this charged you up to do all you can to stay on the track dutifully and delightfully.
